Is That Your Final Answer?

Brad Jensen, author of The Miracle That I Offer: Connecting To Your Spiritual Self, will get you thinking with this statement,

You are the question.  Your life is the answer.

There’s a lot written about asking the right questions and getting the right answers.  If you thought of your life as a question, how would that change the way you go about doing everything?  What kind of person would be in order to get the “right” answers?  How would it affect your business?

I love this because it puts the responsibility squarely on your shoulders.  If you are a bad question, or are asking the wrong question, you’ll get a bad or wrong answer.  The responsibility is yours.

I’m printing Brad’s quote and taping it to my computer screen.

imageI’d hate to get down to the end of the game and have someone sarcastically ask, “Is that your final answer?”

Who is the Retarded One? You tell me...

Time for a bit of a rant.  With the way some companies do things I’m sure I could do this daily.

Some of you who know me know that I have a daughter with Angelman’s Syndrome.  One of the characteristics is severe mental retardation.  Kennedy is almost 10 years old but has the mental capacity of about an 18 month old.  She is healthy and happy and laughs a lot but will never be able to function on her own.

From time-to-time we have a need to purchase special medical equipment.  A local company, Wright & Filipis, has been around for years and seems to be the only company available to purchase this equipment.  They are all over the radio with advertising and seem to be a real smart company.

That clearly isn’t the case.

If you’d like an example of why health care costs are sky rocketing out of control look no further than the company that claims to be "first to serve your home health care needs."

First off, anything sold to the “handicapped” market is automatically double to triple the price of the exact same product sold to the “mass” market.  But, that isn’t really the point here.

Recently, we contacted Wright & Filipis for a quote on a stroller for Kennedy.  She has a hard time walking on uneven ground and a stroller is the safest way for her to keep up with the rest of the family.

After a few weeks of waiting for the quote (it takes that long when there is really no competition) we were contacted and told of the $500+ price tag and decided to look elsewhere for a suitable “mass” market stroller.

Now, here’s the good part… they ordered the stroller anyway and are now sending Kennedy certified mail to make her aware of the stroller being availble for pick up.  Yes, sending KENNEDY the mail.  Customer service at its finest.

So I ask, “Who is the retarded one?”

I’m not usually one for labels but I think it has to be appropriate here.
